1998 Ford F150

Asked by GuruNVZLM Oct 20, 2019 at 06:19 PM about the 1998 Ford F-150 Lariat 4WD Extended Cab LB

Question type: General

When I start my 98 f150 in the morning it runs fine but the
heat blows cold. After about a mile or 2 the oil light pops
on, the heat kicks out hot and the truck starts to run
rough. I always pull over and turn it off for a second then
turn it back on. It runs fine for the rest of the day. This only
happens in the morning. Has any experienced mechanic
seen this issue before? I don't really care for all the
guessing and speculation.

If you have any trouble codes you should post them.

Guessing and speculation are all you will get when we can't see the car and do a diagnosis and have to go off the limited information you provided. I would suspect the coolant level is low and that you need to purge air out of the cooling system.

I took it to Auto Zone. They plugged it up and gave me the print out. It recommended a PCV Valve and hose replacement. My truck is still doing the same thing. But I changed my radiator myself so there may be air in my cooling system.
