Cranks but wont start

Have a 1997 Ford ranger , with manual
transmission,the the motor blew up in so
replaced it with a 2003 3.0L automatic
transmission, motor. It will crank but won't
start.

What engine computer is in it now? If you swapped out to the newer motor's computer, then you lost the programming for the PATs (anti-theft) system, which may now be armed with no way to disarm. Any time you swap an engine's computer it needs to be reprogrammed for the anti-theft.
