Why does my front headlights come on but nothing else? Did replace switch

I replaced light switch and problem still there. When I turn on the headlights
only thing that comes on, but if I move the knob back and forth gently then the
front lights go off and the running and dash lights come.

See if you can obtain a wiring diagram via the net for the lights. I suspect there is a relay within the headlight circuit which controls the dash lights. There may also be a separate dimmer control for the dash lights. A schematic for the plug which controls the lights would make it easy. Jumping the connections with a small wire should point you to the direction of the problem.
