Fuel filter tool won't disengage fuel line on 97 F-150

The fuel filter tool won't disengage the fuel line from filter on 97-F150. It looks easy on you tube. I am 70 y/o and have weakness in arms and hands. I was going to use screwdriver or something to put added pressure on tool but thought I would ask here about another idea. It may be a old filter and that is why it's hard to disengage. Thanks for your help!

If you are using the plastic took which can be purchased at an auto parts store, look for one made of metal in the shape of a cross with a pivot in the center. squire a little liquid break free in there and wiggle it around. It is just a clip mechanism or spring you have to overcome.
