Asked by Rikilee2 Nov 15, 2014 at 08:52 PM about the 1994 Ford F-150 XL Stepside SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

took apart motor to put in new lifters and push rods.  finally got it running real smooth with good acceleration , no stuttering or loss of power.  But, now I have a tapping sound which is something hitting the oil dip stick sleave.  Not sure what I did to cause this or howto fix it.  Yes, im a rookie in learning.

If something is hitting the dip stick stick, it should be hitting the dip stick as it extends further down. If you are sure it is striking the tube, you'll have to remove the pan, turn the engine by hand, and see what his hitting.

TY Ill do that. .. I can feel it tapping the tube. With or without the dipstick in the tube. if i apply pressure one way or the other I can lessen the tap but not make it go away.
