Engines

Asked by Signum_1185 Feb 06, 2017 at 04:56 AM about the 1993 Ford F-150 XLT LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What engine will drop into a 1993 4.9 straight 6 f150
? It is a manual transmission, and I was hoping I
could just drop in a new engine without changing
the trans for any mounts

Put the 4.9L back in and save yourself a lot of head aches. If you were looking to go to a V8, you would have to change the wiring harness and the OBD1 computer to run it.

The old 4.9 or 300 cubic inch 6 was one of the most reliable engines built in the last 50 years. Either rebuild it or get a used or re-manufactured engine.
