If the engine dies and you push the truck into a parking spot will it make the power steering pump blow out all the fluid?

Asked by 1993FORD Nov 11, 2015 at 04:16 PM about the 1993 Ford F-150 XL Extended Cab LB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Had the oil changed last week, they checked all the fluids , said everything
looked great, truck died yesterday with my wife driving while pulling into a
parking lot, she got help pushing it into a space and called me.
I popped the hood and saw oil all over the right side of the engine
compartment, covering the brake reservoir and all the electronics, the
power steering cap was not all the way on, covered with fluid and the pump
was bone dry, no fluid any where else it was like a perfect shot the way the
cap was angled. The shop that did the oil change service said that when a
vehicle dies and the wheel is turned it is normal for the power steering
pump to do this! All the electronics were saturated and they are saying that
it is the Ignition control module, that was replace 2-3 months ago or the
crank pin in the distributor, that was replaced last year and has less than
2500 miles on it, that is the reason it is not getting any spark, they deny the
fact that everything being covered in fluid has anything to do with it, what
do you think?

You might need to let a good attorney handle this one. Reputable mechanics/businesses usually have insurance or a bond company that will negotiate a settlement especially if it is their fault. Then again a reputable business will admit fault and then raise heaven and hell to make sure a good customer satisfied regardless. A local competing mechanic/auto shop would be a great place to ask these questions. They probably could answer questions that You have not thought about asking.
