Drive shaft

Bought a 1992 Ford 4x4 flare side from a private owner in
July and 2weeks ago the drive shaft fell out. Do you have
any ideas on where I could get another one? We ordered
one 3 times from auto parts stores and none of them fit. I
happened across this site and thought I would ask. My
daughter nor I have much knowledge about fixing trucks.
Have to find a reputable place to install it also. I even
called Ford and of course they can't help. The one
mechanic said he tried to find one in a junk yard, no luck.
My daughter is sick over this.

Try finding a local shop in the yellow pages that has been around a long time the specializes in springs, suspension and radiator type work, they likely would also be the citys disributor of these type things. Call and ask them if they can help you find one to buy or repair the one you have, They may even be able to build you one. If not them you can also find a local race car shop, they have these things built all of the time. This is assuming that the one that "fell out" isn't repairable. If its just the universal joints they can be replaced by a reputable service center with certified technicians.

My Ford has 6 U-Joints and I go through them like, well I can't think of a metaphor but too many. I have had the short middle one fall out, and the rear also. There is a place that can cut it, put yolk on, anything. Build one from scratch. Fortunately for me the rear Joint came apart and it drug, as opposed to the front falling and spearing the pavement. But I have had at least 3 built for my '76
