1992 f150 wont shift

Asked by bugman1 May 21, 2016 at 10:29 PM about the 1992 Ford F-150 XL Extended Cab SB

Was at a stop light today and went to accelerate and it didn't go anywhere
checked the drive shaft while my dad pushed the gas and it wouldn't move.
the shifter will go from gear to gear but nothing happens.

Check the tranny fluid. Is it black or smells burnt? Correct level? Twenty-four years old, ever had the fluid changed? Time to visit a tranny shop.

It will go in gear but won't move. Like your holding brakes on
