in my 90 f150 when my check engin light is on the truck runs great then the light turns off the truck runs like crap i dont know what is wrong

when the check engin light is off  the truck wants to cut off and when i am driving when i let of the gas it jurks then when i get back on the gas it stuturs. when the check engin light is on it run great.

have it scaned,when light is on,that will give you a starting point.only time i have run into a simillar problem like this ,was a clogged cat converter & a bad ECM.
