trailblazer transmission issue

Asked by kphdrummer Dec 13, 2016 at 01:43 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer LTZ RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi, I drive a 2003 trailblazer, 172 k miles on it, it
has shifted hard from 3rd to 4th for a while now,
not to bad though. Now, while in 4th, approx 60
mph the trans. seems like it isn't sure what gear
to be in, it will jera, downshift, upshift... it acts
confused. Last night I put a half can of trans
tune into the trans.
What is the word out there on trans tune? It
seems alot more smooth... should I still go
ahead and drop 1400 for a new transmission, or
a rebuild I guess, not sure what he's doing.

I have a 07 trailblazer inline 6 cylinder, one of trans. lines came off the radiator and I lost my fluid and replaced it with cheap merc dex fluid from dollar store not dex 6. Now it is skipping bad . Can I drain it out and put back in dex 6 and fix maybe?
