Oil pressure sensor?

Asked by C Feb 01, 2019 at 01:46 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer LS RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Yesterday my oil pressure would drop to
zero when I stopped so I changed the oil to
see if that was the problem as I make a lot
of short trips I have read I needed to change
it more often however now the oil pressure
guage stays at zero mostly and I'm
wondering is it safe to drive my vehicle just
to town and back for the part. I had it
hooked up yesterday also at oreillys and
they say nothing is wrong so I'm not
understanding vehicle runs normal
otherwise.

If your gauge does move, it's probably not your stepper motors behind the gauge. Look at your oil pressure switch right next to the oil filter on the I6 engine. Betting there's oil on it. Change it out either way, cheap and easy. Actually pretty common problem. Yes your vehicle is safe to drive, but get it changed out.
