Fuse 11 keeps blowing

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 4.2 e150 has been having brake light, hazard light, and blinker problems for a while now. The
abs light is flashing, and it won't shift out of park once it is started. The brake light switch is good.
Fuse #11 (main light switch, brake pressure switch, stop switch, RABS, diagnostic) is bad, but
every time I replace it, it blows again. What would be causing this?

short in the wireing, bad ground.check the wires going to tail lights, should be running along inside frame on drivers side, see if you can find a skint or bare wire on frame.

thanks, i checked all the wires and they looked good. It ended up being the switch after all. whoever installed the new one put a plastic washer in the wrong place, so the metal on the switch wasnt making contact with the metal on the pedal. I'm pretty sure it wasnt able to ground and that was the problem

I have the same exact problem I replaced the switch all wiring looks ok but still poping fuse #11,,,the only thing extra when I replace the fuse I hear a clinking nose like the sound the flashers will make but its coming from the relay on the fuse box.. any help is appreciated

I had the same issues with not being able to shift our of park when started, ABS light came on and the brake lightsand it kept blowing fusees when you being to depress the pedal, all at the same time. I to replaced the braked light sensor but that didn't fix it. I traced the brake wiring located inside the van running in the top corner on drivers side to where I found a short. It was bare wire spliced touching the metal blowing the fuse when the brakes were tapped. Easy fix rap it with electrical tape and put a new fuse in. Didn't need the new brake sensor switch.

Same thing here, replace brake switch, and fuse 6, didn’t release shifter, flashers were out and found fuse 11 out, blew it a couple more times until I reviewed these notes. Found a short in the trailer harness, grounding out to the frame. These notes saved me a bundle!! thanks!!!
