Question type: Car Customization

Would it mess up the motor or anything if you just simply
took the cover off of a stock air intake and replaced the
filter and leave the cover off to make it a cold air intake is
this possible?

what kind of car are you wanting to do this on. There are a few aftermarket options available for cold air intakes.
