Power steering sounds

The humming sound is the power steering pump groaning because it's fluid is too low for the pump to run properly. Fix the leak and if you haven't damaged the pump by using it this way, all should be fine. Fluid constancy changes with temperature: colder equals thicker. That's why it leaks more in warmer weather; the fluid is thinner.
