My car is over heating?

Asked by KatelinHill Jan 30, 2016 at 03:13 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu FWD

Question type: General

A couple weeks ago my car stated overheating and I changed the thermostat after it did this and it seemed to be doing fine, it had really hot heat and was running good. Yesterday my heat hand went above the half way mark and my heat got ice cold, then the hand went back down below the half way mark and the heat got hot for a second then the hand went back up and now its just blowing cold air out.
What could cause this?

I think your t-stat is bad. It may be new but that is the classic symptoms of a bad t-stat seizing up and preventing water circulation.
