2000-2005 impala 3.4-3.8 hold 4.3 quarts. Oil filter is above oil pan so it drains back most oil. 5w30 is recommended. No additive needed because it has a roller cam.I use valvoline full synthetic. Recommended fill procedure, fill with 4quarts, run engine then shut off engine wait 5minutes, check dip stick and add to full line. Alot of oil additives in high mileage motors with kill o2 sensors and cat converter. A good synthetic 5w30 oil is all u need.
