One large tank, this happens while I'm trying to leave a stop light or back up, if I shut the engine off and start all over it is fine till I stop again, usually happens when everything is still cold, when leaving a stop sign with it blinking, if I go slowly it will accelerate, it is has something to do with the speed sensor I think< I replaced the one on the punkin but ut us still doing it.

strange as it sounds, think the evap system is to blame, really don't know nuttin' at all about diesels, but they have gas tanks that need to be ventilated into a charcoal canister...you may just check this system to make sure it's not fuel-bound and operates properly, also look at the fuel cap to see that it doesn't let any vapor out.

also 2000 is enough time for the butyl rubber hoses to begin to degrade, check your vacuum operated devices or just go ahead and change out the butyl ones with synthetic nitrile to be certain you aren't loosing vacuum there-

the light isn't what kills the engine, it is me trying to accelerate and it just chugs and then dies

I restart and I can lay rubber for a 1/4 mile so it isn't hoses and things, it's electrical and I think there is a sensor someplace that is causing it.

are you the one with the partially clogged EGR valve? well, you might be, check operation to make sure it isn't alabamie bound-

Anti torque feature on there or puff limiter like a big rig, if it even has one. Governor control malfunction. Probably none of these don't know much about your baby.

I had the same problem on my 2000 F250 Diesel. Take the cover off of the steering column and check the wires going to the OD button. They rub on the shifter tangs and confuse the computer. Put a piece of tape on the chafe and/or reroute the wires. I've had no more problem.

I had a problem with my overdrive coming on when I was sitting in traffic, and when I would try to go I felt like I was in a standard trying to take off in 4 gear, I spent a couple of grand trying to get it fixed, I several mechanic to look at it even the dealer ships had all kinds of sensor replaced, and to make a long story short it was my ALTERNATOR it was feeding some kind of voltage back to my transmission
