2003 fuel injected Cavalier flooded from pumping gas peddle too much

Asked by Terry Dec 10, 2019 at 08:43 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier LS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I know there is a procedure for getting it started that tells the computer not to
engage the fuel pump. Anyone know what it is ?

Hold the gas pedal all the way to the floor, this tells the computer to go into clear flood mode, then crank the engine over until it starts up then release the gas pedal and it should clear out and run normally. However in the worse case the spark plugs have been totally washed and then they won't fire and will have to be removed, cleaned or replaced and installed back, by that time the fuel should have evaporated and it will start normally.
