2003 Mercedes Benz slk320 ..how to replace ignition key core

Ignition Key is not consistently able to unlock steering and crank car.    Must wiggle several times. I have ordered a replacement key core part of ignition assembly.
How do I remove and replace key core...

The column "covers" need to come off in order to get to the key core. Look under the steering column and you might find the screws. Did you think about the need for reprogramming the keys as well ? Try looking online to see if someone has made a video of this task, but I would let the MB dealer do it, since you might need them to create/clear or correct any security issues with the new keys that go with the new "key core" part of the ignition switch.
