What is the possibility of the upper control arm breaking while getting your front brakes and rotors done?

Passenger front upper control arm broke when they put it up on the rack to do the front brakes and rotors.  They said it was worn and that is why it broke.

thats BS shoes, they are made to withstand road force, and what extra force would be exerted by lifting the car at the lift points? And if it was fractured, it would have failed from the road force, and steering would have gone right out the window.......Probably the kid at the local brake shop
