Replaced batteries in key but car wont start

My mercedes benz S430 key wont start car.
Wasndriving car stopped at store turned car off.
Went to crank and wont start. Car battery is good.
Changed batteries in the key. The key will lock and
unlock the doors but wont start car. Any
suggestions as to why it just stopped workimg
suddenly?
