the remote key stopped working on both mine and husband's keys. Can I get
batteries for the key?

If the problem is in the remote, yes, each remote takes one CR 1616 battery. Carefully take out the tiny Phillips screw and pry open the remote. Remove the little plastic box and pop it open too. Be sure to put the new battery back in right side up. Those original batteries are ten years old and ready to fail when cold. I just did remotes on my girlfriend's 2008 Honda.
