Questions on repairing

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a big list of maintenance that i got from firstone. I have my engine light
ON. The whole list would cost me around 1000$. Is there a way to find out
what i need to change for sure and what out of these is causing my engine
light to be ON.
I need to change the catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, spark plugs, and fuel
system cleanings. I have a uploaded a picture of the whole list.

Would appreciate any suggestion.
Thank you in advance.

What are the check engine codes? Having these will help us narrow down your actual needs. Shops tend to use over kill (or as I say use a shot gun full of bird shot) to address issues rather than take the time to trouble shoot and narrow it down to just one or two repairs.

Thank you guys for your replies. I am not sure if I can get the codes. I would try to get the quote from another shop. Once I get the quote I would put the details here. Thank you again.

Don't go to another shop! Go to an autoparts store like auto zone or advance or Orileys. They all usually will read the codes for free, because they only sell the parts and don't rip you off on labor charges. Just bring a pad and pen and write down ALL of the codes in the exact order they show, and don't forget the prefix letter for each code, OR buy yourself an inexpensive Code reader and check your own codes and then you will know exactly what you are talking about when you need to deal with a repair shop if you are not fixing it yourself.

Thank you. Just called autozone. Going there to get the codes. Would keep you guys posted.
