I have a 2004 Chevy Colorado Z71 4X4 that shakes right before it comes to a complete stop and momentarily right when taking off, no other time. Any idea what this might be. Also the check engine light is on. Don't know if it is related but I thought it worth mentioning.

Have your check engine light codes read. Your local auto parts store will do this for free. The shake is possibly a warped rotor or wheel bearing issue.
