Question type: Maintenance & Repair

For a week now my truck is making a whistling sound when idling or driving. It is coming from the engine area. When I apply the brake sound stops ,but I am having no problem stopping. I have no leaking fluid.

Sounds like a vacuum leak, common after several years in operation. The brake booster works off of a vacuum which is why the sound changes when you apply the brakes. Take it in and have it checked out. Repair could be a simple one or more involved if the booster itself has a leak.
