Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Can I drain my transmission fluid(it’s black as
can be)and put the Lucas formula then refill it
with transmission fluid? My truck is only
staying in first or 2nd gear

Go ahead but black ATF likely means you need a new transmission. I would try to drain the torque converter too. Drive it a few miles and change it again if the fluid looks bad.
