Questions about misfiring codes
A week ago I changed all 6 spark plugs, and a coil pack that was
registering as a misfire. About 3-4 days ago it started having the same
symptoms. I took it to Autozone yesterday and they said it was saying
cylinder 2 misfire ( the one I replaced). Any ideas to why it would be
registering the same code after being fixed?
When I was replacing the spark plugs I noticed a little bit of oil there. The
guy who was helping me told me that I probably needed to change the
valves? I don't know if that is correct or not. Also while I was at a fast food
place fixing to pay my car decided to die on me. I put it in park and tried to
start it up again and it started just fine.
I don't know if any of it is connected. Any ideas?
Possible causes: Faulty spark plug 2, Clogged or faulty fuel injector 2, Faulty ignition coil 2, Fuel injector 2 harness is open or shorted, Fuel injector 2 circuit poor electrical connection, Ignition coil 2 harness is open or shorted, Ignition coil 2 circuit poor electrical connection, Insufficient cylinder 2 compression, Incorrect fuel pressure, Intake air leak.
How many miles are on the vehicle. I would try a cam and crank correlation procedure and depending on miles on vehicle. Could have excessive blow by. Pull the intake tube over the coils off and see if you have oil in throttle body. If you do. I would clean that out . also crank it with tube off and the open port on the front of the valve cover. Watch and see if you are puffing smoke out of it whie running. Let run for a few minutes.
