Can my Sienna run without a catalytic converter

Asked by Kevin Aug 17, 2016 at 11:37 AM about the 2005 Toyota Sienna XLE Limited AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I do not have much power in my van. I took it to a shop and they said the
catalytic converter and the resonator needs replacing. I cannot afford their
price. Can it run without the converter?  Thanks

Yes, but it will have a stinky exhaust smell and will not pass any emissions testing. It will also be illegal in all states. Will you get caught? Very unlikely.
