I have a 1991 Previa. The dash lights that light the dash at night do not work. Does a fuse control just those?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The dashboard lights do not work that light the dash.  Is there a fuse that controls just
these bulbs in the dash?  The turn signal indicator lights, high beam light, low fuel light,
check engine light all still work. All of the fuses appear to be good and everything else
seems to work except the speedometer which bounces all around most of the time and
sometimes doesn't move at all. I suspect that is an unrelated problem. Perhaps I have
a loose wire.

The fuse for the dash lights is also the tail light fuse. You say 'at night'...are the dash light on in daytime without headlights on? If so it may be dimmer switch, and check your taillights with headlights on ..if they work sounds like a ground issue up in instrument cluster
