1995 Toyota paseo crank no start issue

Asked by Benny Oct 14, 2018 at 10:45 PM about the 1995 Toyota Paseo 2 Dr STD Coupe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently purchased a 1995 Toyota paseo 1.5 liter
4 cylinder. Mind you it sat 5 years in the salers yard
before purchase so I did all the usual pre cranking
checks. Cleaned the charcoal canister, fuel filter is
clean. Also can pour a lil fuel in the throttle body
and it will run that fuel out. How can I check the
fuel pump to make sure that is my issue. I jumped
te1 and e1 and received codes 24 and 31.i think
that's due to unhooking map sensor. Should I
actually here a fuel pump cut on when switching
car to the on position. Please help, thank you

I've never noticed hearing my fuel and I have two '92 Paseo's (5 spd and automatic). I suspect its located in or near the tank. I had a code 24, cleaned and tested the MAS, MAP (or MAF) and the TPI (or IPT, ITP,.located near, and in contact with the throttle plate). The last one I found out later (youTube) I should have marked its physical location to avoid tecnical or trial and error readjustments. I used a resistance measurement instead of voltage and/or O'scope readings. I suspect, in your case, the fuel left in the tank went south, water condensation build up and/or contamination (corrosion, in the tank) or someone put something in the fuel (additive or contaminant).Just my thoughts, I'm a backyard mechanic. Also, I plan on checking the fuel pump pressure on my car. I'll get a loaner from the auto parts store.
