Does not cutting my headlights off manually when I turn the car off effect the life of the car's battery?

Asked by Billiebrown Nov 27, 2012 at 08:56 AM about the 2005 Toyota Highlander Limited V6 AWD

Question type: General

The battery died Sat...I think someone left  door slightly ajar, but my son-in-law thinks its because I didn't cut the
lights off manually....I always operate the car with headlights on.

Your son-in-law is correct. If you manually turn on the headlights they will stay on even with the car off and key out. Nothing wrong with using your lights as daytime running lights, low beam. but you must turn them off. But I don't think you need to turn them on in the first place, that car has automatic daylight running lights
