how many miles before strut replacement on 2004 Highlander?

Asked by audellen Nov 25, 2013 at 01:23 PM about the 2004 Toyota Highlander V6 FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have 25,000 miles on my 2004 Highland, 2 WD, V6 and am told by
service shop that I need new front shocks and struts. Another mechanic
advised that it is unlikely that I need them at this mileage. We are senior
citizens traveling to shopping or appointments within a 10 mile radius, so
just short trips. Live close to Phoenix with very hot summers.

....actually the old "bumper test" is still a valid way....pounce down as hard as you can on the bumper....should only recover...no extraneous oscillations~ this is how you know that it is time to change them...crikey, these miles could have been rough terrain miles....we have no way of knowing that~
