do you mean leaks into trunk, or leaks into the taillight??

remove taillight assembly, there are bolts behind it inside the trunk if the gasket seems ok, apply a bead of sealant on the perimeter and reinstall

OK. Thanks. Just wondering if there is any way to remove just the lens cover from the outside of the vehicle w/out taking out the entire assembly.

if you try to split the t-lite assembly you probably end up breaking it

This is what my husband was afraid of. Thank you so much for taking time to respond. The Echo has been a great little car except for this problem.
