replaced after market gas cap on echo 2000 and the engine light is still on. was told to get a genuine toyota part instead

changed the gas cap with an after market cap and engine light stays on    did smoke test  
and it indicates  vacuum switching valve and charcoal canister with vent solenoid   
suggestion was to enlace the gas cap with a Toyota cap because the after market gas
caps may be a problem

Reset battery but 1st get a code saver that pushes into lighter plug Easy and it saves radio code- also try it no recoding Easy to use

The valves inside the charcoal canisters are prone to debris preventing a full seal. I replace these on various older toyota models. Using non toyota parts may make lights go out, but likely will come back within a year or two. they cost more but if they last 10+years the first time, they are worth it.
