Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi,

I am having problems with my car, when I drive I lose power how the
Engine Light is ON, I decided verify the error codes with a OBDII and
received this errors:
P0351 Toyota - Ignition Coil 1 Primary/Secondary Circuit
P0741 Toyota - Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Performance
P0420 Toyota - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1

My mechanic want down the transmission, however; I don´t think this is
recommended. I hope your help to determine the best way to solve this
issue.

First thing to do would be have fuel pressure checked to rule out the fuel pump, and if you have not all ready change the fuel filter,if these are not the issue with the codes you gave,i would think a faulty 02 sensor.

it's probably the ECM (the computer). There is a recall on 2005 corolla ECMs. When they go bad, they can produce those codes (particularly the p0741 and the p0420). Contact your dealer.

I also have a same problem, when ever I drive it’s losing power, almost spend $1000.00 stil can’t figured out the problem
