Burnt rubber smell is different from a oil burning smell. Check for any wiring harnesses or hoses touching the exhaust manifold. Also check the serpentine belt, may have bad pulleys, belt tensioner, and serpentine belt.

If your not a big car person, you might not know the difference in burning oil or burning rubber smell. On that model Corolla the valve cover gasket will leak onto the exhaust manifold causing a burning smell. I would start with the valve cover gasket, since it is the highest seal on the engine and is leaking downward on everything else. hope this helps
