oil leak 97 corolla

Asked by boxerman May 28, 2012 at 08:16 AM about the 1997 Toyota Corolla DX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 97 corolla and have looked everywhere to find out where a top end oil leak is to repair. Is there
a common culprit. Leaves a small puddle and uses about a quart every 500 miles. Have replaced valve
cover gasket and resealed half moon nock out.

I've had a leak at the oil pressure sending unit. It was leaking out the end of it.

The '97 Corolla doesn't have a timing chain. Replace the distributor O-ring, which is notorious for leaking on that particular engine.
