wont start just winding noise

the engine just shut off on the freeway. i try to start it and it has a winding noise
instead of a cranking noise, what do you think it is

Normally if the engine is spinning really fast and it doesnt have that distinct cranking sound is a timing belt issue

It sounds like there's no compression wen I try too start it.it left me broke down onside of freeway too.
