Asked by Mar 26, 2017 at 11:22 AM about the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt LT Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Replaced tires and told rear axle bushings were torn. The tires show a forward
and backward motion. Recommended rear axle replacement. Wondering what a
ballpark cost would be.

So instead of just replacing the bushings you want to replace the whole axle? it's not a common repair. Stop in a couple shops to get some free estimates. Prices will vary.

Just replace the bushings, most places charge about 75 a bushing.

I don't have any idea what has to be done, i bought new tires and this was recomended by tire guys not mechanics, hence the question to those who would know more than me.
