Asked by dmccra Jan 21, 2014 at 02:29 AM about the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt LS Sedan FWD

Question type: General

I have a 2005  chevy  cobalt 2.2 engine, it has 104,000 mile. Every once in a while, maybe about once a yr. My engine check light come on. The code reader
reads read 2 codes 171,po171 The engine runs great though, so I clear the code
with the code reader then the engine check light  goes off It stay off for about another yr. The research I did points to the maf sensor. What is your opinion on this

maybe clean the maf with a non harsh cleaner ,just cuz it is always good to do .that 171 code says a lean mixture ,very common on that engine the defect is the design as quite often since some engineers must have been dumbed down the last few decades try a intake cleaner seafoam may do some cleaning, the stock maf is not quite matched to the pcm may need updated .wonder how much money wasted on this garb.
