How well do the frame and axles of a 96 Celica GT convertible hold up?

Asked by Ann May 19, 2012 at 05:54 PM about the 1996 Toyota Celica GT Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I love my car, and at 191,000 miles, it's time to restore or (sigh) replace.  The engine/brakes/transmission
have all been well cared for.  The exterior was all restored two years ago and she looks sweet!  Is it
worth it for me to sink a buncha money into replacing window motors, interior, and rebuilding the
engine.  Does the skeleton of the car hold up for what I hope will be 400,000 miles?

I'm no expert, but my '94 is at 304,000 miles now and I replaced the engine at around 290,000. It does need a paint job now to take care of a few rust spots but other than that it's holding up well.
