I have a 2002 Toyota Camry and I don't drive it for sometimes a week at a time. Do I need to start it every other day for the sake of the battery?

I understand that newer cars have so much running off the battery, e.g., computers, cell phones, and other things..that you need to start the car often. But since my car is 12 years old, I don't believe that I have all those goodies that run off the battery.

No. Not every other day. Once a week will be fine if you drive it at least 20-30 minutes. As long as your battery is less than 4..5 years old and a quality one.
