Toyota Camry 2000 not starting

2000 T Camry.. 122k.. New alternator battery tests
out fine.. Random times (7) after driving it 2 plus
hours on and off. Stops starting.. I replaced bolts
that were rusty around battery cable..
Now. After car has been jumped. Car will die if its
in idle.. Had to ride the gas to make it home..

your above description maybe 2 separate issues, maybe not.....so, new alternator is putting out correct voltage? Was the battery checked out with a load tester? also "riding the gas" to make it home....does that mean that if you slow down, say at a light or a stop sign the car shuts off? if it does, does it start again? do you have an alternator guage? if so what is it reading when driving? when at an idle? I'm just asking some basic questions so i may be able to point you in the right direction....
