Makes horrible noise when going in / out of 4wheel gears. Anyone else have this issue?

Asked by Jokerr1 Feb 20, 2015 at 08:56 AM about the 2005 Chevrolet Blazer LS Fleet 4-Door 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Anytime I go from 2WD into 4High / or from 4H to 4L or back
the truck makes a horrible BOOM noise.  Is this normal?  I don't remember this
happening before... Goes in okay - just makes terrible noise.

Are you doing this while moving or sitting still?

Andrew / I have tried both moving and sitting still. Moving is at low speed of 10 - 15 mph it does not seem to affect. It goes in and out and the 4WD seems to work fine. It just makes a loud boom / when going back into 2WD --
