The a/c works great but it bows only front face vents on both sides of the car; it don't even comes on defroster.  As far as the heat working it also works just fine except only works or blows in the same position.

One of your blend door actuators is stuck. The bad news is, they're buried behind the dash.

what about the switch it self though? could the switch get stuck in one position and cause it to not change...

It is possible that you have a bad climate control unit and it could be stuck on that vent position. Try Ebay or your local salvage yard.
