Car made a loud popping noise while starting and now it won't start at all

Help Please.  I have a 1998 Toyota Camry LE 2.2
Tried to start the car and there was a loud popping
noise.  Now it won't start at all.  The dashboard is
blank.  And there is no sound when trying to start
the car again.

Took the battery and the starter to Autozone and
they said the starter is okay and the battery needed
to be charged.  So they charged it for me.

Also just replaced the starter relay.

broken timing belt ? better check things out before you ruin it , if it ain't already rusted out

Thank you beatupchevy. Just had to double check it was all good. The timing belt is fairly new and still in tact.

I'm thinking you popped the main fuse. Its in the fuse box under the hood. If it happens again (after replacing the fuse) you will need to hunt down the short circuit that is causing this. Not fun but needs to be done. Good Luck,
