inside door handle, connecting rod mechanizm wont open door.

connecting rod from inside door latch slips in connecting bracket for door latch, consequently the latch does not operate and door wont open. Is there a plastic piece missing, or one I could add to fix the problem?

I assume you have the inside door panel removed. reach down inside the door and carefully feel for the missing "gadget" that should be holding things together. A picture of the area in question would help with the diagnosis.
