Is my transmission shot?

So being the idiot that I am i accidentally put my car into reverse while
driving about 35-40 mph, then put it back into neutral, and then drive. The
car didn't stall but I lost almost all acceleration and the gas pedal pressure
shot up to where i was working out my calves just flooring it to barely get a
few miles acceleration per minute, almost. I'm wondering if my transmission
is fucked? I drive a 96 toyota camry 4 cylinder, just looking for input from
people who have experienced similar to this or just have an idea of what
kind of damage i might be looking at

One things for sure ... that engine did a helleva boogie in the mounts. That gas pedal issue could be a clue to what happened ... but like Tom said "Have it checked" because with winter approaching ,,, you don't want to get stranded
