My 1995 2.2L Camry started to 'stutter' (feel like insufficient gas, but the engine doesn't stall) when going uphill (or under load - with air condition turns on). I thought it was the fuel filter, it was changed but made no difference. I also used Gumout & Lucas injection cleaner for the last 3 fill up. There was no improvement except gives me slightly a better gas mileage. Some suggested that I need to change the wireset but I haven't done that yet. Does anyone know what could be a problem? Please help, I'm afraid that the car will stall in the highway causing undesirable consequences.

Thanks Jim, that's what I suspected. The distributor was replaced a couple of years ago, and tune up was done at the same time. I noticed there were some oxidation (the whitish color) on the outer rubber of the current wire sets, that's when I suspected the wire. The strange thing is while doing uphill and misfire occurred, if I canceled the overdrive (to get the rev up), the misfiring is getting not as noticeable. I've done some research on NGK wire sets. There are 2 that fits 1995 Camry 2.2L, TE43 & TE62. I'm in GA, I wonder which one suited best. Thanks, Kam.

Sounds like brushes are worn out On alt ck charging systems Under load it's failing ac on pulls voltage from coil
